Updates

Morning peeps!
Just to update you with the current status for my design works. I am fully occupied now and with works are piling up at the office, it is sad to say that I won't be taking new orders for time being until I have completed all of the blog designs. I hope by receiving limited orders at one time could give me a 100% focus on the designs. (I want them all to be the best! :)) So my current job status will be 5 blogs at a time.

You too can check the job status on the right side bar which will be frequently updated.

Keep sending me emails for free consultations on your blog designs :)

Until then, have a nice day!

Blogspot or Wordpress?

I've been getting few query on designing a template for Wordpress. I feel like it's such a total waste that my knowledge on Wordpress is very little. Not even 0.2%!

I started blogging in 2009 with blogspot as a platform. At that time, Wordpress for me is for a more professional blogging. Unlike me, I blogged just for fun!

Within the 2 years, I started tweaking Blogger codes and changing them myself with the help of the Google :)
And 2 years later, I can proudly say that I'm quite good at tweaking blogs :P

Siblings and friends started to request blog makovers for their blog and of course, I was just happy to help! Photoshop alone can't really let creativity gone wild! So I started to learn Illustrator myself. With the help from the internet again :) With the fulltime job I'm having now, I guess ai does really help me in a lot of ways. I never regretted learning it!

One thing about Wordpress that I know of, is that it is a free blogging platform like Blogger BUT, changing and tweaking the codes are only applicable for the paid account.Unlike Blogger, it is free!

Meaning the only thing you can change is the header. The rests will have to be from the template from the Wordpress itself.

If you want me to design the header, sure I can do that! But not the whole blog.

The bottom line is, I don't do Wordpress BUT if you're looking for a new header for the Wordpress, I would love to assist you :)

Blog makeover for Ms. Rinnie

Ms. Rinnie requested for a blog makeover few weeks ago with Krafty Design Package. She specifically requested for pastel colors with pink, green and blue in it. With few samples she provided me, I have no problem at all designing her new blog.

What I did was to make a mockup using Photoshop, and asked for her approval. After some minor changes, I transfer the psd. file into Illustrator and start putting it in a test blog created. This this blog basically is for the client to have a look and feel of how the blog will look like once it is been install and of course, with few minor repairs.

It's a simple blog template but with the right color combination, it will look fabulous!

Thanks Rinnie for giving me the opportunity to work with you . I had fun making this blog! :)

Why my price is lower?

At the beginning of my involvement in blog design, I have set on my goal of what kind of style I want for my design. Do I want it to be simple? complicated? average?

Since I'm a full time working and a mother, I had to choose Simple to be my style.

I love simple stuff!

Simple meaning there's not so much work to do plus my knowledge is still limited! :P I'm still learning the coding and using illustrator. That kind  of give me a little constraint on difficult or complicated design.

So how do you tell between complicated and simple design? Let me show you how ..

This is a sample of Simple Design

It's simple yet fabulous! All we need is the best color scheme and few shapes and voila!!

and this is the not-so-simple blog design
I have not yet mastered my illustration skill so I can't illustrate these character. However, they are available online for you to purchase like istockphoto or shutterstock.

So if you like my design style and looking for something simple yet elegant  for your blog, I would be happy to assist you :)

I will try to update my portfolio from time to time so you could see the design style :)
Looking forward to work with you!!!! XD

Blog makeover for Siti

Just completed this blog makeover for Siti few days ago. Initially, she requested for Simple Blog Design Package (RM35) but upgraded to Krafty Blog Package (RM60) later because of the complete package offered.

She wanted photos of the family at the header and brighter colors for the scheme.

Floras are here best interests so I have them applied in the header, horizontal tabs, post divider and sidebar titles.

Visit her blog for the complete view of the design.

Direction signages for Sofia's wedding

Just a quick update. Made this direction signage after a short notice from Ms. Azzah as a favor to a friend who's wedding was 3 days away!

She requested something similar with hers (Ms. Azzah) but in different colors. I wish I could do better but with that time frame, I have to think and act fast!

So this is what I've came up for the signage.

To Sofia & Alhafiz, congratulations on your wedding!!

Order form is up!

To make ordering process works better, I've set up an ordering form for your convenient.Just fill in the forms and answer a few questions that is related to your blog design.

I've tried my best to create a questionnaire for you so I would have a better understanding on what you envisioned for your blog makeover. I never believe in 'surprise me with your design skill' as you and I don't have the same thoughts on what do like and dislike.

If you have any questions or orders other than blog design, do drop me an email. I will create another form for that.

Have a nice day!!! :D

Reader-Friendly Blog Design Tips by Charlie Hester

“What’s black and white and read all over?”
Back in the ‘olden days,’ I sold newspaper ads. The paper I worked for spent lots of money training their advertising executives to learn about the effectiveness of ads.
Where to place them, how to make them look, and what can make them successful.
If you think about it, a blog is a lot like a newspaper- and we can use these principles to help your blog achieve the one thing we really want most: Keep YOUR Readers Reading Longer.
If you are a blog statistic junkie like me, you watch the little minute counter that tells you the average time people spend on your blog. My constant goal is to get them between 5 and 10 minutes. But it takes a lot of work to keep them there. So how can your design keep audiences reading? Read through these 3 easy blog design tips to find out how:

If your type is white, something ain’t right
While I love the sleek look a black background has, after I return to white background my eyes are spinning. Look at the big names in web pages and hosting – Yahoo, AOL, and MSN. Notice anything? Unless you have set your personal preferences otherwise, they all have a WHITE background.
Color should be used to accentuate the positives of your blog, for instance links, ads, and pictures. Black is best for the font color of your main messages (aka- your blog posts) and a Times New Roman-ish or Helvetica font is the easiest for people to read. Your blog isn’t there to frustrate people. So make it as easy as pie for them to enjoy.

Keep it clean “above the fold”
Look at your blog as you first log on to view it, just as it appears on the screen. This first screen shot of your blog is what I consider (to go back to my old timey newspaper terms) ABOVE THE FOLD. Just as most newspapers are folded in half, that first screen shot, before you scroll down, is the first thing people will see. Is it cluttered? Is it hard for people to look at? Are the colors clashing? Unless your blog is committed to something like Pop Art, your blog should be pleasing to the eyes. Not just your eyes. Sure, you LOVE the clip art hodge podge that comes onto the screen. But does it tell your story? Does your audience immediately connect to you from the graphics? If not, perhaps it’s time for an upgrade.

The top left corner of your blog is the sweet spot
If you have contests, giveaways, or important news (lots of my friends do fundraising)- the top left corner (under your header, respectively) is the place that a reader’s eyes naturally fall first. You want to keep the top left corner changing. Give them a reason to look there. It is my constant habit to move things around on the sides once a week. I want my readers to pay attention, and if they see something they hadn’t noticed before, chances are they will take a moment and check it out.
This principle is especially important if you wish to monetize your blog. Advertisers want their ads to stand out, and placement is key. If they require particular placement (such as your top left corner sweet spot), be sure to charge a premium rate.

All of these things add up to:
Readers reading longer!

Take the time to review your blog and tweek it if necessary.
It will make all the difference!

Blog makeover for Ms. Azzah

I just completed this design today :P I was so thrilled to set this new blog up at her existing blog. It even gave me goosebumps when I started uploading the new template. Afraid something bad will happen like the header distorted or an alien pops up. But Alhamdulillah, everything went smoothly.

Ms. Azzah opted for Krafty Blog Design Package which consist of, well, almost everything! From header to footer. She wanted pastel colors and she definitely love frames. Oh and actually, this header was derived from her Wedding favors design which I did for her. She just loves the frames and would love to have it again for the blog header.

My design concept is simple and sophisticated :) (I just came up with it :P) Hence the price which is RM60 for the whole package. If you're looking for something fancy schmancy, there are plenty of designers out there for you to choose from :)

You can go to her blog to see the full design. She's a great crafter too ;) check out her sewing blog!

I still have 1 more blog to design. One step at a time yeah? :)
